Delivering holiday smilesto children displaced by Sandy

This holiday season, we're collecting gifts to help bring back a sense of normalcy for kids affected by Hurricane Sandy.

3 Steps to Holiday Cheer

  1. 1You buy a gift from the wishlist.
  2. 2Our volunteers receive and wrap it.
  3. 3We deliver the gift to a child in need.

The Story

Now that the drive is over, our volunteers are hard at work wrapping and coordinating with local recovery efforts to deliver the gifts we collected.

We collected 1400 Gifts

We are pleased to announce that the remainder of toys that are arriving after the distribution to fire departments will be donated to Occupy Sandy for their children’s Christmas party on December 22nd.  We will also donate the leftover holiday wrapping paper and tape to them.

Any donations that came in to Paypal after the distribution will still be used to purchase gift cards for teens, and be given to Occupy Sandy to distribute.

We did get packages of wrapping paper donated which had rolls of colors we were not using (and not really holiday colors) and we will be donating those leftover rolls to a local grade school to use for crafts.

The wishlist is officially closed.

We will have a final tally for you later tonight.

Tomorrow, we are holding a wrapping party and Monday the gifts will be given out to fire departments from Massapequa, Lindenhurst, Island Park, Long Beach, and East Rockaway, who wil distribute them to the children of their hard-hit towns (there will be pictures of both events).

We will have a second pick up for the gifts that come in after Sunday.

Stay tuned for photos and more news!
